What ADOT Provides Volunteers

bulletErect signs identifying the name of the organization 
bulletProvide safety training for organization coordinators 
bulletSupply litter bags and remove and dispose of the filled bags 
bulletSend new organizations Certificates of Adoption and newsletters 
bulletSupply ADOT safety vests which must be returned after the work is finished or Adopt-a-Highway vests which are kept by the organization for future pick-up activities 
bulletInclude approved areas in the program based on safety considerations including traffic volumes, speeds, curves, and number of intersections 
bulletRecycling opportunities available for groups who wish to use them

What a Volunteer Must Provide

bulletA two year commitment to pick up litter along a two-mile stretch of state highway 
bulletA commitment to pick up litter at least two times a year 
bulletComplete a special event waiver form signed by each person participating in the pickup event 
bulletHold a safety briefing before Picking-up litter 
bulletSchedule the date and time of each pickup through an ADOT contact 
bulletMaintain a working group of six to ten people 
bulletDesignate a member as a coordinator 
bulletReturn to ADOT a postcard which indicates the hours worked, the number of participants, and the bags of trash removed
